The Butchery Apprenticeship is made up of three key elements
A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)
Key Skills
Technical Certificate.
This is a full-time, permanent work-based Apprenticeship in Butchery. You enjoy on-the-job training towards nationally recognised qualifications at Levels 2 and 3, guided by our professional assessors who provide one-to-one support and advice throughout your programme.
You usually start your training at Level 2, depending on your qualifications and ability. We identify this at your initial assessment.
What skills will I gain?
The course content covers the following subject areas:
Food hygiene
Health and safety
Processing meat safely
Knife care
Cutting/ boning/ trimming meat
Preparing and packing meat
Cooking and processing meat
Who should apply?
Anyone can apply for this course who is interested in a butchery career path. As long as you are aged 16 to 64 and not in full-time education we can help. You might already have a job and be looking for work-based training, or you might want to find a job that comes with training through esg. We have great relationships with hundreds of local businesses and will help you find your career path.
How long does this course take?
Butchery Apprenticeship – 9 to 15 months.
Butchery Advanced Apprenticeship – 12 to 24 months.
