A Childcare Apprenticeship offers a wide range of skills and the knowledge you need to understand and work successfully with young children. This might be in a nursery, school, after-school club, playgroup or pre-school setting. Doors will open to jobs such as nursery nurse, teaching assistant, playgroup assistant, assessor in childcare, childminder and crèche worker to name just a few.

Key Skills
Technical Certificate.
This is a full-time, permanent work-based Apprenticeship in Childcare. You enjoy on-the-job training towards nationally recognised qualifications at Levels 2 and 3, guided by our professional assessors who provide one-to-one support and advice throughout your programme.
You usually start your training at Level 2, depending on your qualifications and ability. We identify this at your initial assessment.
What skills will I gain?
The course content covers the following subject areas:
Contribute to positive relationships
Paediatric emergency first aid
Support children's development
Help to keep children safe.
Who should apply?
Anyone can apply for this course who is interested in a childcare career path. As long as you are aged 16 to 64 and not in full-time education we can help. You might already have a job and be looking for work-based training, or you might want to find a job that comes with training through esg. We have great relationships with hundreds of local businesses and will help you find your career path.
How long does this course take?
Childcare Apprenticeship – 10 to 18 months.
Childcare Advanced Apprenticeship – 12 to 24 months.
