Matt took over orient in 2002 having spent 11 years in the Royal Navy in a variety of roles, including responsibility for diving operations, as well as ensuring whole ship operational effectiveness. Matt is also the only Midshipman to have served on the royal yacht HMY Britannia.

Since joining orient Matt has upped the tempo and reputation of the business considerably, creating a high performing, competitive, national training provider. The company now boasts an enviable list of high street brands as key clients. Following its acquisition in August 2007, Matt is now Contracts Director of esg where, as part of the dynamic esg management team he is responsible for the growth of skills and employability contracts.
